The Carpineto estate in Montalcino is one of the highest in the appellation, situated at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level. The sedimentary soil has a galestrum structure with clay deposits dating back to the Eocene epoch (15 million years ago). The vineyards are surrounded by dense forests that protect the vines from the warm, humid westerly winds from the Maremma, imparting flavors of wild berries and Mediterranean herbs to the wine. This unique microclimate gives the wines intense bouquets, vibrant acidity, elegant finesse, and great aging potential.
