Montemar's pairing is geared towards everyday dishes, with medium to high intensity; it is a friendly wine, with very smooth and concentrated tannins, full of intense flavors that harmonize very well with protein and fat.
MONTEmar is an interpretation of the landscape of the Guadalupe Valley, from a playful and indulgent perspective. For this, we created an assemblage of the different vineyards we manage: Nebbiolo from the Granitic Clay hills, Tannat and Petite Sirah from the Silty soils, and Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache from the sandy areas of the dry riverbed.
MONTEmar is vinified in open 800-kilo tanks, favoring the delicate extraction of tannins from the grape skins. It is pressed in basket presses and aged in second-use French oak barrels for twelve months.
Clean, deep purplish-red color.
Pronounced black fruit (black plum, blackberry, currant and black cherry), floral and a little caramel and toasty note from the barrel.
Full-bodied with a rich texture, freshness, and fine tannins. Like the nose, it offers aromas of ripe black fruit, with a long finish reminiscent of toast, caramel, and licorice.
