Bodega Piedra Negra cuenta con más de 30 años de historia, en los que se ha podido posicionar como una de las bodegas de vino más representativas de Argentina. Su impulsor: François Lurton supo sentar las bases para tener un estilo de producción donde la vinificación respeta el medio ambiente, esto siendo creativos e innovadores en procesos. Cada vino elaborado por Piedra Negra “es un auténtico representante de su terroir”.

François Lurton, The origin of this famous historical figure could not be more closely linked to wine world; Descendant of one of the traditional Bordeaux winemaking families.

After working side by side with his father in regions such as Deux Mers and Pessac-Léognan, François and his brother created a consulting firm in 1988, which led them to explore and discover exceptional terroirs for wine in Chile, Uruguay, Australia, Portugal, Spain, France And, of course, Argentina.
Entering the 1990s, together with his father and brother, and joining forces with Nicolás Catena, he began his journey towards creating high-quality wines. Thus began the label “Lurton”.
In 1966, the land known as “Chacayes” where the winery of the same name was founded. Later, this region would be recognized as a Geographical Indication (GI)An interesting fact is that one of the most recognized wines from Chacayes “Gran Lurton” It was initially called “Graucho”
Piedra negra - Chacayes
The first vineyards planted in the Chacayes region belonged to Lurton, in the heart of the Uco Valley, located at the foot of the Andes mountain range. La familia Lurton gracias a su expertis lograron sacar todo el potencial de estas planicies, un autentico “diamond in the rough”.
In 2017, François decided that all winemakers in the area could use the brand name on their labels. That same year, “Chacayes” was recognized as a Geographical Indication (GI) of quality.
To celebrate this historic event in the area, François and his team created the wine “L’Esprit de Chacayes"which in terms of notes, manages to resemble what the terroir itself represents, a rough but very pleasant terroir."
