An excellent accompaniment to roasts, grilled meats, game, and elaborate dishes, as well as rare cuts of T-bone steak. It can also be served on its own, as a wine for reflection.
The Carpineto estate in Montalcino is one of the highest in the appellation, situated at an altitude of 500 meters (1,600 feet) above sea level. The sedimentary soil has a galestrum structure with clay deposits dating back to the Eocene epoch (15 million years ago). The vineyards are surrounded by dense forests, which protect the vines from the warm, humid westerly winds from the Maremma and impart flavors of wild berries and Mediterranean herbs to the wine. This unique microclimate results in wines with intense bouquets, vibrant acidity, refined elegance, and great longevity.
Medium-duration maceration with the skins, accompanied by fermentation at a controlled temperature.
Intense ruby red color, with slight reflections of pale pomegranate.
Defined, fine, broad and persistent with notes of vanilla, cherry, raspberry and licorice.
Dry, warm, smooth, well-structured and long-lasting on the palate.
