In Gascony, just like 2021, the 2022 vintage will go down in history as the smallest harvest since 1991. It was marked by several weather-related risks that foreshadow climate change. A severe frost in early April caused a 20% loss in production; fortunately, the buds were less developed than in 2021. From May to October, exceptional drought and heat marked the spring and summer, with three heat waves exceeding 40°C and only 120mm of rainfall compared to an average of 400mm in a normal year.
The grapes are gently pressed to obtain a delicate and smooth extraction of color and compounds from the berries. As with white wines, the vinification process is carried out at low temperatures to preserve freshness and aromas. Selected yeasts are used for rosé wines. Aging takes place on fine lees. We proceed with early bottling to preserve freshness.
