Hekate is a 90% Zinfandel from a single vineyard. This 65-year-old vineyard, with its many wrinkles and stories, produces a wine full of composure, with aromatic notes reminiscent of the Orient. The additional 10% is a touch of mature Tannat, which adds depth and a persistent, memorable finish.
Visually, it is a deep red, with violet edges;
Its nose is almost mystical and desert-like, beginning with notes of incense, amber, and caramelized date; at the edges, we can sense creamy notes of shea butter (like that of old-fashioned soaps), and it ends with a finish of toffee (which is a chewy English candy made from a mixture of burnt milk and whiskey).
On the palate it is very contrasting, because it has an attack of red cherries and cocoa, with a medium acidity and a very smooth and enveloping tannin, the finish on the palate is very long with notes of nut and cocoa, very well rounded.
